Stuck in Indiana With No WiFi

Oh, woe is me.
Woe.
Woe.
I'm in Indiana visiting Shawn's folks for a week, and one of the things I look forward to is grandpa's WiFi. Alas, poor York, it's not letting my laptop log-in. Thus, I am stuck with limited access. No sitting in the sunshine over looking the woodlands on his backporch blogging and emailing. Oh, woe! Oh, the humanity!
I drove eight hours for THIS!!
On the flip side, I'm expecting to get a lot of REAL writing done as well as *gasp* some reading. On the recomendation of
naomikritzer, I bought Jo Walton's Farthing and am going to start it this week.
But, if you don't hear from me for days and days it's not because I hate you. It's because I hate this place.
Woe.

Date: 2007-11-15 04:56 am (UTC)Silly me, I thought I was leaving behind internet problems by returning home. Now I'm here and a) my computer caught the technological version of AIDS in Guatemala, so I hardly dare to use it online b) nobody bothered to hook up our tower while I was away (and after two years of missed updates, why bother?) so there's great wireless throughout our house, taunting me because I can't use it and c) I have to go to the library if I want to use the net, even for something so simple as printing out my resume. I think I'm starting to develop an eye twitch from the frustration. I Mapquest everything, and to not have that one tool, that one tool alone at my fingertips, has caused me a LOT of trouble. I have interviews. I need to know how to get places!!!
Anywho, long story short, I feel for your internet troubles. Infrequent connection is almost worse than no connection at all, because it teases you.
Good luck with the writing!
