Oh, woe is me.

Woe.

Woe.

I'm in Indiana visiting Shawn's folks for a week, and one of the things I look forward to is grandpa's WiFi.  Alas, poor York, it's not letting my laptop log-in.  Thus, I am stuck with limited access.  No sitting in the sunshine over looking the woodlands on his backporch blogging and emailing.  Oh, woe!  Oh, the humanity!

I drove eight hours for THIS!!

On the flip side, I'm expecting to get a lot of REAL writing done as well as *gasp* some reading.  On the recomendation of [personal profile] naomikritzer, I bought Jo Walton's Farthing and am going to start it this week.

But, if you don't hear from me for days and days it's not because I hate you.  It's because I hate this place.

I'm stuck in Minneapolis with no adult contact and a sick kid. (Who has croup. CROUP. She is FOUR YEARS OLD. Preschoolers are supposed to be too old for croup. She was up twice last night needing comfort and a steam room / a trip outside, but of course I was up for most of the night because there is almost nothing out there that sounds quite as scary as croup, particularly while also being something that is relatively trivial on the scale of how sick they actually are.) Are you going to be there through Thanksgiving? Or home before then?

Lynne and I are just bummed that we will be driving back to Illinois from the Fantasy Matters conference while you and the family are heading back to Minnesota. According to Lynne, she and Shawn decided that we will wave at each other as we pass in Wisconsin.
