"Early Release" Always Sounds Like Prison
Sep. 30th, 2009 12:29 pmMason has an "early release" day today. I have to head out in less than an hour to pick him up. We may go dinosaur hunting or (since I haven't gotten a permit yet) off on an explore of some kind. But, knowning that I'd have only a limited time to write today, I decided to try hanging out at the coffee shop today. I will confess something. I can be pretty distracted when I write anywhere other than home. I'm not one of those people who writes to music. In fact, most of the time I prefer dead silence. So every part of being at a coffee shop has the potential to distract. The noise, the people, the yummy treats, the coffee, the background music, the small children, the free wifi, and (in the case of my favorite shop) the video game console.
But today, I wrote 2,000 words without hardly breaking a sweat.
The best part? I think these were pretty decent scenes too. (Knock on wood.)
In fact, though it is tempting to do a victory lap, I'm going to go right back to it and take full advantage of the moment/inspiration/caffiene.
