So yesterday as the electrician is putting the finishing touches on our new outlet on the porch around 2:30 in the afternoon, I get the kind of call every parent dreads: "Hello? Mason's Mom? This is the school nurse...."

My frist thought was: broken bones, death by playground equipment, major puking... worse!

No, get this: my darling little nerd was following along in line, his mind on how depressing gym class is, his hands in his pockets, HIS EYES SHUT, and whammo! He tripped on a concrete curb and, in his own words, "had a meeting with the pavement."

He had a goose egg in the center of his forehead that has since faded completely, but also scrapes on his lip, nose, and forehead. Poor little pook. The nurse said he was bravely chatting and that there were no tears, but he might like to come home early for some snuggles. "Who wouldn't?", I thought, as I hopped in the car, called mama, and picked up the little fella.

His spirits were a little low yesterday right after the accident, but some tylonol, reading time, and snuggles perked him right up. I even managed to mostly get my act together before I rushed off to the Loft to take over a class for Lori Lake while she's out of town --hopefully picking up an award for her writing.

I spent much of this morning getting the yard ready for Mason's big sixth birthday party, which is Sunday (although officially his birthday is the 24th, tomorrow.) My folks are coming up for birthday actual and Saturday, and then the Halloween themed birthday party is Sunday. Whee.
